Uptick in COVID Cases
After going weeks without any noticeable COVID cases, we have gone from zero to five (5) known Resident cases in less than a week. At this time, all cases are independent living (IL) Residents in apartments.
Fortunately, all appear to be exhibiting mild to little symptoms. Each is on a 10-day quarantine that is being monitored by our Resident Nurses and the Health Center leadership.
Kevin Stewart, Health Services Administrator, and Stephanie Wellman, Director of Nursing, are strongly encouraging that IL Residents stay away from the Health Center (HC) at this time to limit any potential exposure to HC Residents and Staff.
If you need to come to the Nurse’s Clinic or Legacy Therapy, please do so by going directly there. Otherwise, call the Arbor Wing Nurses Station before you come.
Overall, the country is seeing a surge in COVID cases, and particularly hospitalizations, as is the State of North Carolina. There is growing concern for a resurgence this fall/winter.
We encourage everyone, particularly those 60 & older, to consult their primary care physician (PCP) if you have any concerns, questions, or symptoms.
We continue to monitor the situation and opportunity for the fall COVID Booster. Our annual Flu Clinics are October 9th (HC) and October 10th (IL & Staff). We await Edgeway Pharmacy’s shipment of the COVID Booster shots to schedule those Clinics. You may want to consider—with your PCP’s advice—the RSV vaccination this year.
