The 2026 Spring Season of Giving continues the momentum of growth and participation.

The Season of Giving 2026 at Covenant Village culminated in a celebration on July 14th in the Assembly Room – and there was much to celebrate.

To kick off the event, residents and others who donated to this year’s Season were treated to a refrain of Kool and the Gang’s Celebrate Good Times, C’mon, led by Covenant Village employee Glenn Flowe and members of the Legacy of Care Committee.

More than 155 donors gave to the 2026 Spring Season of Giving between May 1st and June 30th, raising more than $147,000 in support of the five pillars of Legacy of Care – a philanthropic initiative in its third year that benefits residents and staff at Covenant Village. 

The five pillars are as follows:   

Resident Benevolence Fund: in support of Covenant Village residents who outlive their financial resources.

Employee Development Investment: in support of continuing and professional educational opportunities for Covenant Village staff and to provide assistance to employees who are facing personal hardships.

Innovation and Enrichment: in support of new initiatives at Covenant Village, including Lifelong Learning & Enrichment, the new Woodworking/Hobby Shop, funding for the ARISE Wellness Brain Health program, and start-up funds for smart home technologies.

Capital Fund: in support of projects that include raised gardens, a memorial garden and columbarium, local and original art, refreshed areas in the ARISE Health Center, a second Tovertafel projection system in the ARISE Health Center, and updates to the residential shared living rooms in the Appalachian and Blue Ridge buildings.

Where the Need is Greatest: in support of needs of Covenant Village that extend beyond what can be provided through the annual budget, as well as unanticipated needs that arise during the fiscal year.

Resident participation accounted for 82% of the participating donors, more than doubling last year’s resident participation. In addition, Board members, family members of residents, employees, and others contributed to this culture of generosity.

“We did not start Legacy of Care three years ago with an overarching goal of raising a certain amount,” said Dale Melton, CEO. “We simply wanted to provide residents, resident families, staff, and friends of Covenant Village opportunities to do what they love to do — give.”

Gifts to Legacy of Care are accepted year-round. The “Season of Giving” is an annual time for requesting financial support. Covenant Village appreciates the funding received throughout the year.  Donors to both Covenant Village during the year and also to the Employee Bonus Fund in the fall are thanked and recognized as members of the Circle of Giving at a celebratory event in December.
