After 13 strong weeks of re-opening and returning to our “new normal” after the major COVID Pandemic, we have two confirmed COVID Staff cases in the Health Center (HC). As a result, Kevin Stewart, our Health Services Administrator, has shut down the Health Center to Families and Visitors, as well as unessential Staff and Vendors.
We will resume testing HC Residents and Staff now. As with previous cases and outbreaks, we will need to see, up to, a 28-Day case-free run before we can consider re-opening the HC.
It was later confirmed, through our Contact Tracing protocols, that another Health Center Employee was exposed to the initial active case. All three Employees are at home.
Prior to today’s news, our last confirmed case was a Staff member reported the week of April 12th. The last HC case was a Staff member the prior week (April 5th). Our last Resident case was the week of December 14, 2020—some 30 weeks ago.
We continue to follow all local and state COVID protocols and to monitor all developments from the CDC, CMS, and DHHS—our governing and licensing bodies.
As you have seen on the national news this morning, COVID cases are up in all 50 States the last week. The overwhelming majority of new cases, as well as COVID-related deaths, are with unvaccinated individuals. This particular run is being called the “fourth surge.”
Thank you for understanding the need to be cautious at this time by shutting down the Health Center. Though we have come a long, long way, we all know that the Virus is still in the community, region, state, and nation. Be careful all!!
We will continue to provide the latest information via community memos; Covenant Conversations on Facebook and Wellzesta; the Covenant Village website (https://covenantvillagenc.com/); and on our Facebook page.
